Sri Meenakshi Temple

If you’re looking for something to do Pearland that is outside of the realm of most people’s usual activities, then you’re going to want to visit the Sri Meenakshi temple. Fashioned after the Sri Meenakshi temple in India, this Hindu temple is a quite a site to see. Outside of India, this temple is the only Hindu temple dedicated to Meenakshi, the wife of Shiva. Make sure to stop by the visitor’s facility. You’ll be able to learn about the history of the temple and Hindu culture there.

John Hargrove Environmental Complex

One of the best outdoor features of Pearland is the John Hargrove Environmental Complex. The complex features a mile long trail that takes you through wetlands and beautiful trees and you’ll definitely want to bring your binoculars along for some bird watching. Along a section of the trail, there are fruit trees that visitors are allowed to sample. If you haven’t visited the John Hargrove nature park, we highly recommend it.

The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad Depot

Beginning construction in 1875, the GC&SF railroad connected many southern Texas towns and cities together, including Pearland. The GC&SF depot was used as a pickup spot for supplies like mail and livestock. Today, the depot has been restored to what it looked like originally and has a nice little visitors center where you can learn all about the history of the railroad. This is a great place to visit to learn about the early settlers in southern Texas.
